David Snyder, Immediate Past Chair

David F. Snyder was appointed to NVTC in 1994 as a principal Commissioner. He served as NVTC’s chair in 2000, 2007, 2015 and 2025. As of January 2026, he is serving as an alternate representing the City of Falls Church. He serves as a member of the NVTC Executive Committee and an alternate of the NVTC WMATA Committee and the NVTC Legislative and Policy Committee.

Mr. Snyder was first elected to the Falls Church City Council in 1994. He was selected to serve as vice mayor for the city of Falls Church in 1996 and mayor in 1998 and vice mayor again in 2010. He is Vice President, International Policy, for a property and casualty insurance trade association. Mr. Snyder chairs the National Capital Region Emergency Preparedness Council and has chaired the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Transportation Planning Board and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority. Mr. Snyder graduated Magna Cum Laude from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania and graduated from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. Mr. Snyder also received the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Scull Award for regional leadership in 2010.
