Catherine S. Read joined NVTC in January 2023 representing the City of Fairfax.  She serves on NVTC’s Legislative and Policy Committee.

Ms. Read is serving her first term as mayor of the City of Fairfax. She currently serves on the Virginia Poverty Law Center Advisory Council, the Equality Virginia PAC Board, and the GrandInvolve Board of Directors. Previously, she served on the  boards of Britepaths, Virginia’s List, Equality Virginia, and the PAC Board of REPRO Rising Virginia (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia). A city resident since 2000 in the Old Lee Hills, Providence Square, and Fairchester Woods neighborhoods, she has hosted several Fairfax Public Access shows, including Inside Scoop, Your Need to Know, and Making Change Radio. She established a social media consultancy in 2007 and currently works with numerous organizations on messaging, community outreach, and policy advocacy. Ms. Read earned a B.A. in government and politics from George Mason University.
