Join NVTC, PRTC and VRE for an engaging discussion on Northern Virginia’s transit future, with a focus on the transformative changes possible with long-term, sustainable funding.

Both SJ 28, Virginia’s Growing Needs of Public Transit in Northern Virginia Joint Subcommittee, and DMVMoves, a joint initiative by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), have finalized their recommendations. We’ll hear voices from the business community, our transit systems, as well as members of SJ 28 and DMVMoves on the challenges and opportunities of creating a sustainable future for public transit in Northern Virginia.

Virginia’s Path to Sustainable Transit Funding

Northern Virginia’s transit is an economic engine that connects communities and supports businesses, but sustaining these services requires long-term, reliable funding. Our panelists will share updates on two key funding initiatives—the regional DMVMoves effort and the General Assembly’s SJ 28 Northern Virginia Growing Needs of Public Transit Joint Subcommitteeand explain the growing needs of the transit system that strengthens our entire region’s economy and quality of life.

GMU is a short walk from the Virginia Square Metro station (Orange and Silver lines), as well as Metrobus and ART bus stops. Parking is available for a fee on nearby streets or in the Van Metre Hall parking garage.

More than two Commissioners will be attending the NVTC-PRTC-VRE Legislative Forum.
However, this is not a NVTC business meeting and no actions will be transacted.
